Saturday 18th May saw the Jurassic Coast 100K ultra challenge come and go for the Lanware 30 for 30 Team consisting of James Tovey, Ian Murray and David Mansfield.
After 7 months of intense training, the trio set off at 7am from the beautiful Corfe Castle and took on the technical course along the spectacular World Heritage coastline, including steep hills equating to 8,000ft elevation gain and shale beaches. This rigorous course, together with changeable weather of intermittent rain and sunshine leading to boggy conditions underfoot, couldn’t stop the Lanware 30 for 30 Team from conquering this epic challenge. Amazingly all three managed to keep their humour throughout the trail and mercifully came through with just a few blisters and sore muscles to show for it.
Looking at the statistics from this challenge makes this feat even more impressive. From the 792 people that started the trail, only 528 people actually crossed the finish line, meaning a significant drop-out rate of 34%. The fastest time achieved for the 100K was an incredible 12 hours and 6 minutes and the last person to cross the line took 38 hours and 3 minutes. Our own James led the Lanware trio in with a fantastic placing of 56th, Ian closely followed behind in 67th and David in 158th.
