Following on from last year’s post; Recommended top 4 podcasts in financial services, I thought I would update you with the top 6 podcasts I listen to that help me sail calmly through the uncertain world we live in.
With so many to choose from, the following podcasts are a mix of financial, IT MSP and general topics that I enjoy listening to and find particularly useful.
Two cheats I use before I start! Firstly, there are a whole host of book recommendations on LinkedIn, so how do people manage to read so many and still maintain a busy work and home life? The answer is to use Blinkist: Best Book Summaries & Audio Book Guides. It summarises the books in about 15 minutes so you can get all the useful content without the filler! Secondly, with Blinkist and podcasts, you can increase the play speed to 1.5x or even 2. Which means you can get through twice as many in the same amount of time!
Merryn Talks Money

This is a Bloomberg podcast, hosted by Merryn Somerset Webb with contributions from John Stepek. I’ve followed these two individuals for many years, from their time at Moneyweek through to their recent move to Bloomberg. I also find John’s daily newsletter “Money Distilled” has some really great content. You can subscribe here: https://www.bloomberg.com/account/newsletters/uk-wealth
Dan Snows History Hit

One of my favourite quotes; “Only if we understand our past, can we move forward to a brighter future.” I believe this is the top history podcast out there, headed by the legendary Dan Snow. It helps explain the modern world by looking at our past!

You can hear Dr Stu and his expert guests dance around hedge funds, markets, the economy and wider world with a bit of music and poetry thrown in for good measure.

5 Live Boxing with Steve Bunce
https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/5-live-boxing-with-steve-bunce/id1209982802
This is my favourite podcast to listen to when I’m running. It includes discussions, analysis and the latest news from big fight nights and the world of boxing. Also, it shows how the Geopolitical world is changing i.e. all the money for fights is now in the Middle East.
Paul Greens MSP Marketing
https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/paul-greens-msp-marketing-podcast/id1485101351
Although this podcast says it’s mainly for managed service providers and IT support companies, it is a great podcast full of marketing ideas which means it is applicable to any business. Definitely well worth a listen!
And finally…
One of my favourite market commentators, like millions of others, has to be Mohamed El-Erian!
